DB Valve to comply with the UK Water Regulations.

UK Water Regulations require a DB valve to be fitted on all outdoor garden taps in domestic properties (not commercial properties) used for drip watering systems, to prevent backflow of water into mains system. Backflow can occur when the public mains in the street is damaged, water that is inside the pipes of houses and gardens is then drawn back into the water main, potentially contaminating it. Drip watering systems included within the scope of the regulations includes hanging basket drip systems and drip irrigation pipes laid on the flower beds and planted borders.

To comply with the water regulations, the valve must be fitted 300mm above highest dripper and all of the dripper outlets must be above the soil surface. Inlet: 3/4″ BSPF Outlet: 3/4″ BSPM (fits to a standard outdoor tap or onto a tap timer outlet)

Pressure drops: Flow 500 l/h – 0.9 bar; 1000 l/h – 1.2 bar; 1500 l/h – 1.4 bar

For commercial irrigation installations the UK Water Regulations normally require a Cat 5 air gap using a break tank and pump.
