Drip Tape and T-tape Supplier
Our Drip tape for glasshouses is a cost-effective method of watering soil grown row crops in glass houses, tunnels or outdoor beds. Made by T-tape this drip tape for glasshouses has a closer 20cm spacing, relatively high output and smaller reel sizes. For field crops we recommend our standard T-tape.
The tape is placed on the soil surface and has regular drippers along it’s length which slowly weep water directly into the soil. Tape irrigation pipe is low cost, low pressure and output per dripper of 1.0 l/h. If necessary the tape could be operated from a gravity supply. Individual runs of tape can be connected together using header pipe.
How to work out the parts
Each system requires a pressure regulator and filter (1). On the end of the bed 16mm polythene pipe is connected to a header pack (2). For each run of tape (4) an entry fitting is needed (3).
One header pack is needed per bed. The header pack (2) has fittings for the end of the bed to allow the header pipe to be connected to Geka type connectors of Hozelock type snap connectors. It can also be used to connect to an underground pipe bringing water to the bed.
To calculate how much T-tape for glasshouses is needed work out the length of each bed and its width. Generally one line of tape would be used per row of crop. Multiplying the rows on the bed by its length gives the meterage needed for each bed. You will also need one entry fitting for every row of tape.
Connecting multiple beds together
The pipe link kit is designed to connect up to 4 separate beds together to a single water supply. This pipework can then be If more than 4 beds are needed then be connected back to the pressure regulator and filter (1)
If the number is beds is greater than 4, then the DR003 T-tape drawing details the parts needed to make up bespoke bed link kits.
Automatic control
Depending on the size, the system can either be operated from a tap timer, with the pressure regulator and filter fitted underneath. For larger installations, underground valve boxes can be installed with battery controllers or mains operated controllers operating multiple zones.
