Rotor pop up lawn sprinklers are designed to water larger lawn areas, either in the garden or on turfed areas of parks or sports fields.
Rotor pop up lawn sprinklers have a gear-drive mechanism which slowly moves the sprinkler in an arc, back and forth across the area to be watered. Full circle sprinklers will be fitted into the middle of the lawn area and half circle sprinklers will be run along the edge of the lawn area. Smaller rotor sprinklers have a single jet of water – longer throw sprinkler sometimes have two or even three jets – a main jet for the full distance and one or two ‘fill-in’ sprays to ensure the area is evenly covered. Generally a number of interchangeable jets will be supplied to cover a range of distances. As the distance covered increases, so does the water requirement and the pressure required. For this reason many of the larger rotor pop up sprinklers need pumps and storage tanks to operate.
Pop up sprinklers are idea for watering lawn, turf and grass areas as they are buried under the turf and then pop up when pressurised. At the end of the watering cycle the sprinklers then retract back into the body, leaving no visible infrastructure. The grass can be walked on and played on. Underground pipework links the sprinklers together under the turf – for larger installations several sprinkler zones will be used to water the entire area.
Access Irrigation mainly use the Hunter range of gear-drive rotor sprinklers. Hunter industries have an excellent reputation for durability and efficiency.
