Underground Pipe and Fittings are designed for irrigation systems where the supply pipe is to be buried in a trench. The pipe and the fittings are much stronger and more durable than above ground pipe and have a much higher pressure rating – typically 10 bar. Both the pipe and the fittings are designed to withstand full system pressure continuously.
Underground irrigation pipe is normally buried a minimum of 300mm below the surface and on heavy use sites 500mm. Mains water pipes must be buried at 750mm depth. Below ground pipe is normally manufactured from MDPE or HDPE polyethylene for strength and durability.
Compression fittings are normally used on the pipe. These heavy duty fittings are designed to withstand full mains pressure and use a sealing ring on the outside of the pipe to seal the fitting. Nylon grip rings normally grip into the polythene pipe to prevent in moving.
Pipe handling tools include pipe cutters to make a clean cut of the pipe at 90 degrees to the length and also a pipe chamfering tool to remove any sharp edges of the cut pipe that may damage the sealing ring of the compression fitting.
