We Supply a Range of Systems to Suit All Needs
It’s essential that your cherished flowers and plants receive enough water, as flowers will bloom more abundantly, and plants will establish themselves more quickly, if provided with sufficient water. Although it’s often not easy to know where to start! Well, you need look no further, as here at Access Irrigation, we supply several different flower border sprinkler systems to suit all budgets, ranging from highly efficient, uniform output dripline systems, to hidden popup sprinkler systems, to more basic, fixed riser systems. The systems we supply are all-inclusive, giving you peace of mind that you’ll have everything you need. We also supply tap timer controllers, which enable complete automation of these systems if required.
Permadrip Pro Dripline Border Watering System
Our border dripline system is ideal for watering all types of borders, ranging from typical flower borders and herbaceous borders, to substantial, professionally landscaped borders. The Permadrip Pro dripline is made from a thick-walled polythene pipe with commercial grade pressure compensated drippers spaced every 0.5m to ensure completely uniform, even watering along the entire length of dripline. Dripline is also a more efficient way of watering flower borders than using sprinklers, as the water will flow directly down to the roots of the plants, thus greatly minimising evaporation, and eliminating any blockage by foliage above, which can be a problem if using a sprinkler system.
The high quality Permadrip Pro dripline is designed for professional irrigation installations and has a thick wall to ensure a long life and resistance to mechanical damage. Its brown colour enables it to easily blend into the soil, and it can be covered with a mulch to make it completely invisible if required. To prevent blockages, the drippers will self-flush if there are dirt particles in the pipeline, and are also equipped with an advanced anti-siphon mechanism to ensure that no dirt is sucked back into the dripline after watering has ended. Depending on the size of your flower borders, we have two systems available, the smaller system covering an area of up to 15m2, and the larger system covering up to a substantial area of 60m2.
In addition, we also supply a convenient border watering link kit which can be used to link the dripline on each flower border together, by using MDPE supply pipe to run underground between the borders, therefore enabling this supply pipe to be protected from foot traffic and the elements, and be completely hidden out of sight to ensure that it doesn’t spoil the appearance of your beautiful garden.
Popup Flower Border Gentle Spray System
This is our most sophisticated sprinkler border watering system, and as such benefits from several advantages. Firstly, this system will be completely invisible when not in operation, with all supply pipe being buried out of sight below ground, and the popup sprinklers resting at just below ground level – meaning that no unsightly pipework and sprinklers will be visible on the borders – ensuring that the view of your flowers and plants will not be spoilt. Secondly, as the sprinklers are positioned along the front edge of the flower border and rise to a substantial height of 300mm above ground level, the spray is lifted above the foliage – thus preventing spray blockage and allowing the entire border to be watered efficiently. An additional advantage of the system running along the front edge of the border means that no plants or roots will be damaged when installing. Lastly, unlike standard popup sprinklers, the advanced, MP rotator sprinklers used within this system produce a very fine, gentle spray, ensuring that even delicate plants are not damaged. This system will water a flower border up to 15m long and 2.5m wide.
Flower Border Gentle Spray System
This is a middle-of-the-road system, as it operates in a similar way to the system above, however, does not use popup sprinklers. Instead, it uses fixed sprinklers mounted on small metal spikes. Like the above system, these sprinklers are again MP rotator sprinklers, so will provide peace of mind that even delicate plants will not be damaged when they are in operation, however as the sprinklers are low, this system will not spray above the plants – so part of the spray may be blocked. Where this system again differs from the popup system is that although the supply pipe will still run along the front edge of the flower border (preventing plants and roots being damaged during installation), the pipe is not designed to be buried, so will be visible, which is a disadvantage when compared to the above system if you are concerned about potentially spoiling the flower borders appearance. This system will water a flower border of the same length and width as the popup sprinkler system.
Fixed Riser Border Sprinkler Watering System
This is a more basic flower border sprinkler system, using a single supply pipe running down the centre of the border. Small bore pipe will then be connected to the supply pipe at each required point, running to a sprinkler mounted on top of a spiked riser, watering the flower border. This is a low-priced, very simple, easy system to set up. A disadvantage is that it’s not as discreet as the above systems (particularly the popup system), and as it’s designed to run along the centre of the flower border, plants and roots may be susceptible to damage when installing, as well as blocking sprinkler spray. There are two versions of this system – the small version watering an area of up to 40m2, and the large watering an area of up to 75m2.
Conclusion
As you can see, there are a number of ways to water your flower borders. Each has its own advantages, but all of them will provide a much easier way of watering the garden and boost growth and flowering of the border.
